The traditions of Chod are indeed vast. Our teaching materials are designed to make this extensive oral and written tradition both comprehensible and accessible. The lectures, teachings and melodies are carefully organized and preserved for future study.
The English translations by Lama Jinpa strike a balance between accuracy and the poetic qualities of the original Tibetan. The transliterations do not follow arbitrary rules, but a natural method of pronunciation. And the full Tibetan is present in all texts for both accuracy and study, as well as to maintain and transmit the blessings of the original material.
In each Module, we present from 100 to 200 graphic-rich slides. The addition of this Western approach to traditional teachings gives us a tremendous advantage in terms of delivering complex information in an organized and lively way. Students receive these slides in hard copy, so they can follow along, as well as PDF files of the slides on their CD. In this form the entire presentation, or an part, may be played on one’s personal computer.
Lecture Audio Files
All talks, lectures and oral translations are recorded in highly quality and converted to MP3s, which participants receive on their CD/DVD. This allows practitioners to replay and review the entirety of the weekends verbal transmissions as separate tracks.
Sadhana Audio Files
An essential component of the enlightened power of the Chod ritual are the variety of sacred melodies. These have come to us directly from MaChik, her sons and other great luminaries of the lineages of Chod and from the Wisdom Dakinis themselves. Singing these vajra songs brings tremendous blessings and benefit. All melodies, performed by the lamas in both individual and group settings, are preserved on the DVD, so that one can practice and perfect these many haunting and powerful melodies.
Rituals are performed in their traditional Tibetan melodies and style, using transliterated sadhanas. These texts, created by the School, contain the original Tibetan, transliterated text, and an English translation. Additionally, there are important sacred musical instruments and various paraphernalia required for authentic Vajrayana practice. See the Store and Resources sections for listings of required and suggested sadhanas, texts, ritual implements and practice materials.
Additionally, the texts that can be recited wholly in English have been made into half sheets as an alternative method of practice. Easily be laminated (or purchased in this form), these portable and handy charts make practice that much more accessible and streamlined.
Beginning with Module 2 and onwards, each Module has the option of video/DVDs of the entire training. This is optional because their is an additional cost in the significant effort and production of up to 12 one hour plus videos. Each Module page contains information on the number of associated videos there that are associated with that module, and what the additional cost is.
